“May the glow of the moon surround you and light your way to health, happiness and prosperity.”
This is the message for everyone you love at Moon Festival time. This year the second most popular date on the Chinese lunar calendar falls on 18 September. In a tradition going back thousands of years it celebrates, Chang’e, the goddess of the Moon and wife of Hou Yi, the great archer. Chang’e had ethereal beauty and she ascended to the moon with her pet rabbit, Yu Tu.

Next week it will be a time for children to carry lanterns, lighting the path to prosperity. Everyone should eat lots of moon-cakes rich with pastry, sweet bean and egg.
Moon Festival marks the fifth day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar and celebrates harvest time.
“I see the moon
the moon sees me.
The moon sees somebody
that I don’t see.
God bless the moon
God bless me
God bless the somebody
that I don’t see”.
