A Mr. Wen told Sing Tao News that at around 10:00 am, two men and one woman came to the temple, pretending to be tourists touring the area. When they learned that there was no one inside, one of the men and the woman kept watch outside while the other man went inside. He used a wooden stick with double-sided tape to reach into the cash box and took away the incense money. A total of three cash boxes were involved in the incident, with a loss of $1,500.

Wen said that after reviewing the CCTV footage, he found that the three people looked very familiar. They had stolen incense money from an ancient temple several years ago. In addition to calling the police, he also posted photos of the three thieves on Facebook and gave this advice to the thieves: “I hope the three thieves will turn back, respect the gods, and return to the right path as soon as possible.”

CCTV footage from the temple showed two men and one woman wearing white short-sleeved shirts, blue jackets and long jeans. The man in the jacket was the one stealing inside the temple. He used his mobile phone flashlight to look at the cash box and only stole the money when he saw some. His technique was very clever and he made off with the money in just a few minutes.

The police said that theft was reported by Mr Wen on the 18 September. The case was classified as theft and no one has been arrested yet.
