Biu Tsim Kok, Sai Kung
Yesterday morning (26/12), a 61-year-old hiker was found unconscious at Biu Tsim Kok with a tent beside him. A Government Flying Service helicopter transported the victim to the hospital, where he eventually died. The brother of the deceased said that his brother had been working as a night guard for more than three years. He was used to hiking alone in the morning after work or during holidays to see the scenery, or taking his tent to the beach to “shake down”, and then return home at dusk.
The incident occurred at 10:36 am when a hiker who was travelling from East Dam, High Island Reservoir, Sai Kung to Long Ke Wan was passing Biu Tsim Kok, when he saw a man lying on the ground but breathing. There was a tent next to him. Worried about his safety, he called the police for help. The Government Flying Service arrived at the scene and as the victim fell into a semi-conscious state, took him to the Eastern District Hospital for treatment, but he was eventually confirmed dead.
