Po Pin Chau, Sai Kung
Around 5.45 pm yesterday (27/7), police received a report that a man canoeing to Po Pin Chau had gone missing. Police arrived to start a search, with the fire department also sending frogmen to search in the sea. A Government Flying Service helicopter and the Marine Department also arrived to assist. Sources said the male victim was about 40 years old, about 1.7 metres tall, thin, wearing a blue long-sleeved swimsuit and a blue hat. At about 12:00 noon yesterday, he rented a canoe from a boat rental company in Pak Lap and reportedly went to Po Pin Chau. He was scheduled to return at around 4:00 pm, but when he did not return the company staff feared an accident and called the police. Later, the victim’s wife also reported her husband missing.
Search and rescue teams continue searching in Po Pin Chau, Wong Nai Chau, Wang Chau and High Island (Leung Shuen Wan).
