Chinese Medicine hospital opening now offers treatments refined over 2000 years

Sai Kung people suffering from chronic illnesses may be helped by the new Chinese Medicine Hospital opening now in phases at Tseung Kwan O. I’m a big fan of Chinese medicine, refined over 2000 years. During a run I jumped over a fence and landed awkwardly on angled ground. The pain of the sprained ankle was excruciating. I couldn’t even lie flat in bed without unbearable pain. My wife sent for a Chinese medicine practitioner. He cooked up a foul-looking and -smelling concoction and wrapped my aching ankle with it and bandages. Within 30mins the pain was entirely gone.

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong, fully opening on December 11, has 400 beds and doctors and nurses trained in comprehensive Chinese medicine services. It offers in-patient, day-patient and out-patient help. In its first year It will be geared to serve 48,900 people, in the second 81,400. By year five, all phases will be completed, and the CMHHK will be able to look after 310,000 people a year. It divides services into six categories: Internal medicine, external medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics and traumatology and acupuncture and moxibustion. The chief executive of the hospital is Professor Bian Zhaoxiang.

You will find the hospital at Tseung Kwan O. It has a 42,900 sq metre site, bounded by Pak Shing Kok Road, the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy and the Fire Services quarters.

Here are some of the benefits of Chinese medicine: Pain management, improved immune function, better sleep, long-term wellness by treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.
