Fake chimneys are all the rage online – to make Santa feel at home when there’s no fireplace in the house – but how does he get in?
As Christmas is just a week away, children should now be preparing for Santa Claus’s visit with his reindeer.
Santa likes cookies and milk, so leave it out for him. For his reindeer put oats mixed with a little sugar outside where they can find it.
It is important for Santa to see he is welcome, so leave a special brightly painted key for him to find. Outside hang jungle bells with ribbons for the reindeer to don.
Santa is a big fellow — all that cookies and milk — so prepare a sturdy chair for him to sit in. Outside clear a spot for his sleigh and reindeer.
We assume you have already written to Santa at his North Pole workshop telling him how good you have been during the year and what presents you would like as rewards.
As you live in HK you are unlikely to have a chimney so let Santa in through the front door. After serving the big red bewhiskered fellow with his cookies and milk, talk to him as if he is a normal person. He likes that.
“Santa, please tell me all about your North Pole workshop.”
“Love to. I have lots of elves who do the hard work. They made the presents I have just given you.”
“What about Rudolph? Why is his nose so red?”
“Um . . . ah. Rudolf can be naughty. He likes a tipple.”
“What’s a tipple, Santa?”
“I think you better ask your parents about that.”
“Santa, do you have a wife?”
“Oh, yes, Mrs Claus. I’d be lost without her.”
“Santa, what do you wish for the world at Christmas 2025.”
Father Christmas surprises the child by breaking into song:
“I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms and keep it company
I’d like to see the world for once all standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills for peace throughout the land.”
