Old police pals met in Sai Kung on 6 February for lunch at Big Fish (salmon and spinach pizza, chicken quesadillas) then drinks at Poet’s. On the right is Angus Stevenson-Hamilton, former Assistant Commissioner and Aide de Camp to the Governor, in the centre is Philip Lam, ex-Chief Inspector and bodyguard to the Governor and on the left is Stuart McDouall, former Senior Superintendent and founder of, among other things, the Financial Investigations Bureau.

The photo was taken by Roger Medcalf, founder of SAI KUNG BUZZ, and a long-time friend of Stuart and Angus as well as current friend of Philip.

Angus lives at Discovery Bay after giving up on UK weather. Philip resides in Sai Kung. Stuart lives in Glasgow to be near his son, Patrick, daughter-in-law Carrie and grandchild Marlow, but says he and wife Susanna may also give up on the nasty British weather and return to Hong Kong. Lament by one friend living in Devon: “We have had only four days without rain this year.”

Both Stuart and Angus feature largely in the book, “Tales from a Barren Rock,” edited by Roger and Rod Olsen. It’s a compilation of more than 30 stories about life in Hong Kong by long-term residents. You can find it a Bookazine.
