A 49-year-old man fainted during a hike with friends in Sai Kung East Country Park yesterday evening and was taken by helicopter to hospital.
Police received a report at 7:00 pm yesterday (11/1) that the victim had collapsed while hiking with friends near Pak Tam in Saigon. Police officers rushed to the scene and the victim was taken by helicopter to the Eastern District Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival. After initial investigation, it is believed that the incident is not suspicious, and the cause of death is to be determined after autopsy. It is reported that the man was deaf.
This was one of three incidents reported yesterday. In one, a 65-year-old man disappeared after hiking alone in Pat Sin Leng, Tai Po in the morning. Police and firefighters searched the scene and found the victim, who had fallen from a mountain path, at about 4:00 am this morning.
In another incident 42-year-old woman lost her footing while hiking with a friend on Lantau Island, and fell to the bottom of a 15 metre cliff.
