Early this morning two cars were set alight outside a village house in Tsam Chuk Wan. Police suspect an arson attempt.
Around 5:00 am this morning (2/1), the police received a report from a 62-year-old man who reported that two private cars were on fire outside a village house in Tsam Chuk Wan, Tai Mong Tsai Road, Sai Kung. A preliminary investigation indicated that the cause of the fire was suspicious.
When the police arrived they found a BMW and a seven-seater van with flames and smoke coming out of them. After investigation, it was found that the windows of both cars were damaged, and there was a flammable liquid smell in the cars.
Police officers visited a nearby CCTV camera and found a private car driving at high speed to the scene before the fire. A number of suspicious men got out of the car and broke the windows of two vehicles. They threw suspected flammable liquid into the compartments and set it alight. The gangsters then jumped into the private car and escaped, again at high speed.
Police are interviewing the vehicles owner for clues into the incident.
