Government gazettes widening of Hiram’s Highway from Marina Cove to Sai Kung Town

fullsizerenderThe Government today (3/1) gazetted the proposed road works at Hiram’s Highway between Marina Cove and Sai Kung Town in Sai Kung to relieve traffic congestion, accommodate anticipated traffic growth and cope with unexpected incidents in the area.

The general nature of the proposed works is as follows:

(i) widening of two sections of Hiram’s Highway of approximately 3.5 kilometres long between Marina Cove and Pak Sha Wan, and between Pak Sha Wan and Sai Kung Town to a dual two-lane carriageway;

hh2.2

(ii) widening of the Pak Sha Wan section of Hiram’s Highway of approximately 100 metres long to a single four-lane carriageway;

hh2.3

(iii) widening of a section of Po Tung Road of approximately 400 metres long between Yau Ma Po Street and Fuk Man Road to a dual two-lane carriageway;

hh2.4

(iv) improvement of a section of Po Tung Road and Tai Mong Tsai Road of approximately 600 metres long between Fuk Man Road and Wai Man Road to a single two-lane carriageway up to current standard;

hh2.5

(v) construction of carriageways, footpaths, central medians/refuge islands and amenity areas;

(vi)construction of a subway across Hiram’s Highway with associated lifts at Pak Sha Wan;

hh2.6

(vii) permanent closure and demolition of sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths, central medians/refuge islands and amenity areas;

hh2.7

(viii) temporary closure and reconstruction of sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths and amenity areas; and

hh2.8

(ix )ancillary works including landscaping, drainage, lightings, slope improvement, electrical and mechanical works; implementation of environmental mitigation measures; and provision of noise barriers, traffic aids and retaining walls

Any person who wishes to object to the works or the use, or both, is required to address to the Secretary for Transport and Housing an objection in writing, which can be submitted via one of the following means:

(1) By post or by hand to the Transport and Housing Bureau’s Drop-in Box No. 6 located at the 2nd Floor Entrance, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. The box is available for use between 8.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday (except public holidays);

(2) By fax to (852) 2868 4643; or

(3 )By email to (gazettethb@thb.gov.hk).

The objector should describe his interest and the manner in which he alleges that he will be affected by the works or the use in his notice of objection. Objectors are requested to provide contact details to facilitate communication. A notice of objection should be delivered to the Secretary for Transport and Housing not later than 3 March 2020.
