Four taxi drivers parked outside McDonalds in Chan Man Street, Sai Kung took matters into their own hands yesterday (24/3) when a BMW driver illegally parked in the taxi rank and refused to move.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 pm. The police received a report that a 30-year-old man was arguing with four taxi drivers next to the taxi stand. The victim was beaten, kicked, bruised, and taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. The four taxi drivers fled afterwards. The case was initially classified as an attack that caused actual bodily harm.
The BMW private car was suspected to be illegally parked beside the taxi rank, causing an obstruction. The male driver got into an argument with the taxi drivers when he refused to move. Internet users uploaded a video of the incident – see some frames above. In the clip, a man in black was surrounded by many people, pushed to the ground and punched and kicked. The two sides scolded each other with vulgar language, and onlookers kept calling “Hit him”. He responded “Come at me one at a time, I’ll fight!”. The man in black struggled and retaliated, beating one of the assailants in the head. He was then pushed to the wall and grabbed tightly by three of them. They twisted and fell to the ground, and the man in black was beaten again. Later, a male passerby stepped forward to separate the two sides, and the fight came to an end.
