Government has announced that two quarantine centres in Sai Kung, Lady MacLehose Holiday Village and Po Leung Kuk Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp, will scale back their role in providing isolation spaces.
Currently there are five quarantine centres in Hong Kong receiving those who have had close contact with patients with the novel coronavirus. While three of the centres are able to take up to 500 hundred people, especially with the expansion of these sites, the two centres in Sai Kung can only take a total of 60 people. Considering the large area of the the sites it requires a lot of human resources management. Therefore the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has said that the two camps would be considered for backup purposes.
For those who have to undergo home quarantine for 14 days after returning from the mainland, the department said, some people who do not have permanent residency in the SAR would have to stay in Tso Kung Tam Outdoor Recreation Centre in Tsuen Wan and Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre.
