Yesterday afternoon (9/5) afternoon police found a suspicious taxi near 28 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan. No one was in the car, but after comparing the licence plates, it was identified as the taxi stolen in Sai Kung at 1:30 am earlier that day. The police contacted the owner and the driver involved for assistance.
Forensics staff came to scan the vehicle and to search for evidence, and police dogs were also present to assist in the search. According to the neighbours, the taxi had been parked at the site all morning, and no on returned to pick up the car.
The 57-year-old taxi driver who was involved in the incident, and who was injured in the robbery, arrived to help police. Hs right knee was bandaged with gauze, but he would not speak to the media.
The female taxi owner said that the car had been rented for many years and no robbery had occurred previously. The driver who was robbed mainly drove the car at night.
