Around 11:00 pm last night (11/10), a motorcyclist driving along Tai Mong Tsai Road, Sai Kung towards Pak Tam Chung swerved to avoid a dog which had rushed out into the road. The motorcyclist lost control before knocking down the dog and he came off the bike and slid across the centre line for about 25 metres. Unfortunately another motorbike was coming in the opposite direction, and this collided with the biker on the ground, killing him. The second biker was injured – the dog killed.
The deceased was a 25-year-old man driving a Kawasaki motorcycle along Tai Mong Tsai Road towards Pak Tam Chung, close to Wong Keng Tei. The other biker was 38-year-old and was driving a Suzuki motorcycle towards Kowloon. He tried to avoid the biker sliding along the road towards him but could not stop in time. The second biker was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.
The deceased was found lying on the ground and his helmet badly damaged. When the ambulanceman arrived, they found that he suffered a severe head injury with part of his brain left in his helmet. The tank of the Suzuki motorcycle involved was covered with blood.
As for the dead dog, some neighbours said that they had never seen it before, and it is not yet known whether it was a stray dog or was owned someone. Local residents assisted in handling the remains of the dog after the incident.
