Around 2:00 am this morning (12/10) two masked men sneaked into a house in Spanish Villas, Nam Wai, Sai Kung in an attempt to burgle it. The Filipino domestic helper heard the noise and shouted at them to stop. The two men fled after the incident, and the helper later informed the French householder to call the police. The police found that a glass door of the house was damaged. After investigation it was confirmed that the owner of the household had no property damage or loss. Later the police also discovered that another village house near the Nam Wai Village Office had also been burgled. The windows had been pried open and there were signs of looting inside the house. The damage and losses are unknown and the case was classified as a serial burglary.

This morning, the Wong Tai Sin Police District Rural Patrol Team was patrolling the scene to track down the burglars. A reporter from “Sing Tao/Headline News” found out that the three-storey house was occupied by a family of four and the maid. The maid told reporters that the burglars climbed over the wall and escaped, and provided the police with a short video taken at the time of the incident. The maid said she noticed a strange noise coming from inside the house. She followed the sounds and was surprised to see two masked men, so she raised her mobile phone to take pictures of them.

As seen in the film, the moment the maid saw the burglars, she immediately shouted at them to stop. Seeing that they had been discovered they fled. However, one of the men waved to the maid with a look of relief, and even raised his hands to make a face. The maid later discovered that the glass door was damaged and notified the householder to call the police.
