Taxi loses control and falls six metres down a hillside on Sai Sha Road; driver and passenger trapped for nearly an hour

Around 2:00 am this morning today (4/10), a taxi picked up a passenger from Pak Kong Au, Sai Kung going to Sai Keng Village. It was travelling along Sai Sha Road towards Ma On Shan where the driver lost control when passing Kei Ling Ha Sun Wai, and ploughed down a six-metre slope. The female driver and female passenger were trapped in the car until rescued by emergency services after more than 50 minutes.

The 61-year-old driver refused to be sent to hospital after treatment at the scene, while the 34-year-old passenger was sent to hospital with a neck injury. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Sources at the scene said that the taxi suddenly lost control and hit the rock wall on the left. It rebounded across two traffic lanes and crashed down the hillside about six metres. and stopped after hitting a tree. It is reported that there were oil stains on the road along the road where the incident occurred. It is suspected that the driver lost control while driving through the oil spill.
