According to on-site reports, the victim was in his 20s. He went to watch the sunrise and it is suspected that he had fallen down the slope and called the police. Firefighters arrived at the scene and found the victim on a hillside 30 metres below the top of the mountain. They rescued him and carried him down the mountain to the hospital for treatment, and helped take away his backpack.

A couple of days earlier (2/1), about 1:00 pm, police received a report that a man in his 30s had fallen from the first floor of a house under renovation in Ho Chung Village, Sai Kung, and was unconscious.

By the time the ambulance arrived, the worker regained consciousness, and his head was fixed with a neck brace and he was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The worker was conscious when he was taken to the hospital and was accompanied by a co-worker. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the police classified the case as an industrial accident.
