Sai Kung Promenade All photos: Guy Shirra
Notices have appeared on all of the trees lining Sai Kung Promenade from Sha Ha Road at the north end of the WM Hotel as far as the corner in front of the Jockey Club carpark.
No reason is given for this environmental destruction other than “Potential Risk”. Risk to what? Certainly not the huge rocks forming the breakwater and there is no sign whatsoever of any damage to the stone wall.
These trees, aside from being aesthetically beautiful, provide shade for walkers and runners and a wonderful spectacle when flowering.
Removing any of them let alone all 100 or so would be “unfortunate”. At least they have had the decency to ask for the public’s “views”.
So if you feel that this project should be cancelled forthwith, please call the number provided: 8108 8199 quoting project CV/2023/07 before the deadline of 28 August.
