A 67-year-old woman died in a drowning incident at Pak Lap Wan, Sai Kung this morning.
Around 11:00 am this morning, a 67-year-old woman took a boat to Pak Lap Wan and became unconscious while swimming some 30 m off shore. She was rescued by the crew who called emergency services.
A helicopter from the Government Flying Service flew the victim to Eastern District Hospital, but unfortunately she eventually died. Police have conducted a preliminary investigation and believe that the incident was not suspicious.
Sadly this type of accident is becoming more common in the Sai Kung area, presumably owing to the hot weather and more people visiting the country parks.
