Spudnik and Sweetie Pie (with orange marking on her forehead)
A financially distressed Sai Kung resident is advertising used appliances for sale. Wendy has to leave her rented flat and move into a cheaper one in the Sai Kung country park. She laments that she will have to leave three feral cats to fend for themselves and will have two inside cats put to sleep. One will go with her.
Cutie Pie
The ones bound sadly for euthanasia are old: a 19-year-old has kidney problems and is blind, an 18-year-old is seriously neurotic and on tranquillisers. “When I went away for a few days I came back to find she had licked her stomach raw.”
“My income is going down and I can’t afford to dig into my retirement fund such as it is.” Wendy’s friends and neighbours will miss her. They know she’s a good person with a kind heart who loves animals.

As well as selling household appliances and furniture, Wendy is hoping for a donor to come forward with support. She can be reached at wendyfell69@gmail.com
This story reminds us of the saddest case in our quarter century in Sai Kung. An Australian couple lived on a large catamaran at Hebe Haven with 13 cats. The storm Mongkhut wrecked the boat, making it uninhabitable. A BUZZ team member saw the man carry each cat in a carrier to the vet to be lethally injected. Thirteen of them, one by one.
