The ferry route takes around 15 minutes to get to Hong Kong Island
The ferry service between Tseung Kwan O South, Sai Kung and Sai Wan Ho, which was launched in January last year, will cancel its Monday to Friday services from 2 June. Sai Kung District Councillor Christine Fong Kwok-shan disclosed on social media a letter sent by the Transport Department to the Sai Kung District Council, stating that it had received an application from the ferry operator to adjust the service timetable.
The department said that the average daily passenger volume on the route dropped from about 150 to 190 people in April and May 2024 to only about 100 to 130 people in July to December 2024, with the average daily passenger volume on weekdays being fewer than 100 people. By January this year, the average daily passenger volume on weekdays had dropped to only about 70 people, and the average daily passenger volume on holidays was about 190 people.

In order to make more efficient use of resources and enable operators to provide more stable services, starting from 2 June all sailings from Monday to Friday will be cancelled, except for holidays. Services will continue to be provided on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
