Trevor Bailey recounts his walk around Sai Kung on Thursday (25/9).
Given the ferocity of Ragasa, there was surprisingly little damage evident this morning in Sai Kung. A tour by a BUZZ reporter from the gates of the country park to Ho Chung and most places in between resulted in these photos.

Hardest hit were some of our banyan trees. They don’t have strong roots deeply penetrated into the ground, so they fall victim to any big wind. Fortunately our biggest, iconic banyan — the one on Raymond Fung’s “visual corridor” through town — appeared unscathed.

Only a few boats were semi-submerged near the Police Pier and Pak Sha Wan Pier. Hundreds of pleasure boats, including the former Governors’ yacht the Lady Maurine, anchored from the bow, had no problem riding a super typhoon because they always turned bow into the wind.

BUZZ is compiling a archive of how Sai Kung dealt with Super Typhoon Ragasa. Readers are requested to send in their photos and experiences. Please send to: Email:Â saikungbuzz@gmail.com, WhatsApp: 97359944, Facebook:Â Sai Kung Buzz
