The Ham Tin Wan camping site was awash with garbage after the campers departed
Following the invasion by mainly mainland tourists to scenic tourist hot spots during the recent Christmas and Calendar New Year public holidays, highlighted by the Ham Tin Wan campsite in Sai Kung being turned into a “garbage dump” and a site for illegal campfires, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, said today (7/2) that Hong Kong has made many preparations for tourists coming to Hong Kong for the upcoming Lunar New Year Holiday.
For the popular tourist destination Ham Tin Wan, staff and contractors will be stationed during the long holiday, and CCTV will be installed to monitor the flow of people. Additional staff will be deployed if necessary. As for another popular destination, Po Pin Chau, crowd control measures will be implemented at the entrance as needed. She appealed to tourists to protect the environment and said that Hong Kong will cooperate with mainland government departments and regulatory agencies to strengthen supervision.
