Two men arrested for suspected burglary and theft in Pik Uk, Sai Kung

East Kowloon Regional Police Headquarters have said that during an anti-burglary operation in Sai Kung yesterday (4/4), they arrested two men, one from Sri Lanka, the other from India, while attempting to burgle a detached house in the area.

Police announced that due to the Easter and Qingming Festival long holidays, increased travel and outdoor activities by residents have raised the risk of burglaries. Officers from the East Kowloon Regional Police Tactical Unit conducted anti-burglary patrols in the Sai Kung area yesterday. Around 9:00 am, officers spotted two suspicious men on Pik Uk Tsuen Road. Upon questioning, they found various items that could be used for burglaries, including screwdrivers, gloves, and iron bars. The men were arrested on charges of “Going equipped for stealing”.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the two individuals attempted to burgle a detached house in the district, and the case has been handed over to the Tseung Kwan O Police District Criminal Investigation Team 1 for follow-up.

Police remind the public to closely monitor locations where valuables may be stored to prevent criminals from taking advantage of the situation. Police will continue anti-burglary operations and patrols. Under Chapter 210 of the Laws of Hong Kong, the Theft Ordinance, a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment is imposed upon conviction.
