BUZZ’s story on the proposed increase in pet fares by British Airways has caused much discussion. Dr Matthew Murdoch, Veterinary Consultant at Ferndale Kennels in Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung, has told BUZZ that they have lobbied BA to get a lower rate, than the sudden 900% rate that was announced on 30 June.
He says that BA has lowered this to 500% from 3 July. In addition, if the booking wasn’t on their system already (you can’t enter system till 14 days before travel) but has an air-waybill number already reserved, BA may charge old rate but it is up to individual judgement of BA Commercial Team.
In addition, Ferndale is looking into if they can get a bulk discounted rate if they can combine many pets on one plane, although this is still under discussion.
