Early morning yesterday (10/3), two thieves tried to burgle a house in Sheung Sze Wan Village, Sai Kung. Police arrived at the scene, intercepted and arrested a mainland suspect, and believe that he was related to another burglary in the same village on Wednesday (8/3). As one of the burglars is still at large, the police round-up operation continues. The police appeal to the public to be vigilant at all times, and if they encounter suspicious persons, they should immediately call 999 to report the incident.
Acting Chief Inspector (Operations) of Tseung Kwan O Police District Chan Chin-hang explained the case.
Acting Chief Inspector (Operations) of Tseung Kwan O Police District Chan Chin-hang told the media that at around 4:00 am yesterday, two thieves took advantage of the residents of a detached house in Sheung Sze Wan Village being asleep and sneaked into the unit to burglary. However, the neighbours were woken up and sounded the alarm. The suspects immediately dropped the stolen goods, and fled in the direction of Clear Water Bay. Police units rushed to the scene to arrest them.
During the operation, the police intercepted a 40-year-old mainland man at a bus stop near Leung Fai Tan, Clear Water Bay Road, and seized a small amount of cash and a ticket to and from Hong Kong and Macau on him. The burglary in Sheung Sze Wan was related to another burglary in the same village on 8 March, so he was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
