Police in Sai Kung are searching for four individuals suspected of hunting wild boars. Around 9:00 pm Last evening (10/10), police were patrolling the Sai Kung area near the entrance to Pik Shui Sun Village when a resident reported that three or four individuals had abandoned a food cart, a backpack, and a reusable bag on the slope opposite the village entrance. The suspects then fled the area.
Police officers subsequently arrived at the address and opened the cart, backpack, and reusable bag, discovering several transparent plastic bags inside. Each bag contained fresh meat, believed to be recently slaughtered. Preliminary examination suggests it may be wild boar meat or even young pork. The police are currently tracking the suspects.

According to the village chief, as reported in Chinese language media, wild boars are a common sight in the village, but villagers do not hunt them. The four suspects, who were not villagers, were walking along the village road near the sea. They were suspected of being illegal immigrants. When they saw the police car, they became frightened and abandoned the pigs and fled. Initial investigations are not ruling out the possibility that someone may have hunted and slaughtered the wild boars themselves. The number of wild boars involved in the pork is currently under investigation.
The case is being classified as “Cruelty to Animals” and is being handled by the Tseung Kwan O District Criminal Investigation Team. No arrests have been made yet.
