Get ready for the needle!
A new tattoo studio has recently opened in Sai Kung. Julia Seizure is a Hong Kong born British tattooist whose first venture in Hong Kong was establishing the iconic and long running establishment, Star Crossed, which she sold around 15 years ago to move back to England to pursue her career in tattoo artistry.

Julia has won no less than four international awards at tattoo conventions and has a reputation that precedes her in the UK and Hong Kong, having been featured in several tattoo magazines and news articles. She moved back to Hong Kong last August, and opened her new establishment, Shoot the Moon tattoo in late November, nestled in the picturesque lively old town of Sai Kung.

It houses an extensive record collection which clients can freely browse and play to make the tattooing experience all the more fun! The studio specialises in a wide variety of styles, ranging from traditional Americana and Japanese colour work, fineline black and grey, kawaii and new school, water colour and abstract art.
Bad Dad joke
Overheard in Starbucks: a small boy about four is looking up at a tall adult:
“Grandad, do you go to school?”
“No.”
“Is that why you don’t know anything?”
Best pool table in town

Not many people know this. The only pool table in town lurks mostly unused, because people don’t know it is there, on the mezzanine floor of Casa Tapas Bar, run by the charming Naz and James Bradshaw.
Best doctor in town

The best doctor in Sai Kung is undoubtedly Dr Clifford Loo. Patients soon work this out and his waiting room is always packed. I’ve never seen it otherwise. One or two doctors in town are dodgy. I visited one clinic with flu symptoms and was given three kinds of antibiotics. For flu! Around the corner from the Jockey Club gambling shop, there’s a clinic where you are greeted rudely. Walk in the door and the receptionist shoves a big red sign in your face, “FULLY BOOKED”. So eff off.
Only proper pub in town

The only proper pub in Sai Kung is Poet’s. It was opened 30 years ago by a rotund European who at the time was investing in several businesses. He had three bar-restaurants on the go at one time. I asked him why he was so ambitious. “This is little Austria and I’m Hitler.” His debts caught up with him and he did a runner. Now Poet’s is owned by three blokes all in the container business. Rose from Indonesia manages the place very well and has been doing so for decades. On her days off Maricel from the Philippines will serve you. Go see Rose on Thursday when she’s serving curry with chutney.
